Giving back: How you can help America’s displaced workers COVID-19 is a devastating illness and its effects on our economy can’t be ignored. In the past week, hundreds of thousands of retail and service workers saw layoffs or furloughs in the wake of the virus, and many more may be coming down the pipeline. But leave it to the good folks of the web to offer relief in this trying time. Yashar Ali, a journalist and writer for New York Magazine, started a fundraiser aimed at helping workers impacted by the coronavirus. The fundraiser is run through GoFundMe, with a goal of $1,000,000. The funds will be distributed by Tipping Point and Robin Hood, which will feed the funds into relief organizations that can provide cash to at-risk workers. It’s been said before that crises can bring out the best in people. And in 2020, the internet makes it easy for anyone to be a hero. Visit the fundraiser and make a donation.
We could all use a little inspiration in this trying time. If we work together, we can all make a difference.
