While Open Access has been a frequent topic of discussion in scholarly communications circles for more than a decade, relatively few librarians have had the opportunity to work closely with this content to develop best practices around collection management, discovery, and assessment of OA materials. Through panel discussions with librarians developing OA collections, this series will provide an overview of the current OA landscape and offer practical advice for implementing an OA strategy at your library.
Session 1 - Getting Started with Open Access Tuesday, May 10, 2022 11:00AM-12:00PM ET 8:00-09:00AM PT This webinar will provide an overview of Open Access for library administrators, electronic resources and collection development librarians interested in expanding collections with Open Access content. Learn more about how Open Access works and how libraries are using it to support their users today. Session 2 - OA Trends in Academic Libraries Tuesday, June 14, 2022 11:00AM-12:00PM ET 8:00-09:00AM PT Library Journal will launch the second session of the series by presenting the results of its 2022 Open Access Survey, providing a snapshot of OA in academic libraries today and calling out trends indicated by the data. Then, panelists will share insights from their own experiences promoting OA, including Open Educational Resources (OER), in libraries. This quick paced session will provide data on OA publishing, giving participants a good understanding of the quality and quantity of OA content available today, Then panelists will share what they have learned from usage analytics for their libraries' OA collections.
