Hi John,
Have you ever found something unexpected that sparked your imagination or creativity?
A little over 20 years ago, two guys named Davy and Jason did just that and started a magazine called FOUND. It all began when Davy found an angry note on his car windshield from someone named Amber.
However, the note was not addressed to Davy, but to another person named Mario.
Perhaps Amber thought the car looked like Mario's?
In a nutshell, Amber told Mario off, Davy "found" this gem of a story on his windshield, and with his friend Jason, they "decided to start a magazine called FOUND, a showcase for all the strange, hilarious and heartbreaking things people’ve picked up."
I'm often compelled to pick up interesting detritus in the forms of lost grocery lists or tumbled seaglass, so it's no surprise I'm a big fan of this magazine.
On my walk today, I thought I'd move my attention to the ground and see what caught my eye. I spotted all kinds of things: receipts, coffee shop napkins, dental floss picks. (Side note - why do people toss these on the ground? Drives me bananas). Some of these I ignored, others I picked up and tossed, and there were a few gems like this one...
Now what?
Well, first, it delights me!
And second, I might collage it into a piece of art, hang onto it as a bit of inspiration, or do nothing with it and just enjoy the experience and memory of discovering it.
My task for you: Open your eyes and see what gems you can find this week. Share your discoveries with me -- I'd love to see what you find!
Pop over to my Instagram or Facebook pages to see some of the other things I found today!
Eyes wide open,
