Opening Soon–The Philosophy Chamber

We invite you to join us for a lecture by Jane Kamensky, professor of history at Harvard, in conjunction with our special exhibition The Philosophy Chamber: Art and Science in Harvard’s Teaching Cabinet, 1766–1820, opening to the public on Friday, May 19. Kamensky, author of the recent biography A Revolution in Color: The World of John Singleton Copley, will discuss Copley’s views on pre-revolutionary Boston.

The exhibition unites long-forgotten icons of 18th- and 19th-century art and technology and presents new findings on a 250-year-old space that stood at the center of artistic and intellectual life at Harvard and in New England for more than 50 years.
