The artistic avant-garde of modernism gathered in Munich, Vienna and Berlin at the turn of the century. It was here that the famous Secessions took place, where the new art of Symbolism, Art Nouveau and Impressionism was exhibited. The Alte Nationalgalerie shows around 200 works by 80 artists, with a focus on the oeuvre of Gustav Klimt.
