The Solar Array Drive Assembly (SADA) was developed specifically for spacecraft solar array deployment and pointing applications. The actuator contains a permanent magnet stepper motor driving a harmonic drive. The motor and transmission are designed as free standing units that allow for modular combinations of motor and transmission to adapt easily to a variety of applications. Slip ring circuits can be added and/or modified to meet mission requirements.
