An increase in permanent layoffs and faltering employment gains endanger the economic recovery, and people of color are likely to suffer disproportionate harm, says Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta President Raphael Bostic. "An unnecessarily slow labor-market rebound could just drive historic wedges deeper, continuing to exacerbate the geographic, racial, gender and income disparities in our economy," Bostic says.
