Hi John, Australia’s second biggest telco Optus has suffered a 32% drop in net profit for the three months of the June quarter with the telco attributing the decline to higher depreciation charges incurred with its investment in its mobile network and lower contributions from Optus Business.
Australia Post is set to undertake a telecommunications ‘transformation” of its business, with the roll out of a series of upgrades to its network that it says will optimise performance for services across the country, as it plans for the future. 5G is on the rise in the land of the long white cloud. Nokia has inked a deal with Vodafone New Zealand to deploy a 5G network across that country later this year. There has been a change at the top of Australian cloud accounting service provider MYOB. The company has chosen Greg Ellis to succeed Tim Reed as its CEO. Mobile data revenue will remain the largest contributor to Australia’s telecom market between 2018 and 2023, driven by increasing smartphone subscriptions, expanding long-term evolution (LTE) networks, growth in the use of 4G services and the expected launch of commercial 5G services in 2020, according to a new report.
