IFRS15: The new revenue recognition standard

In May 2014 the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) issued new converged standards for recognizing revenue under US GAAP and IFRS. The FASB issued ASU 606: Revenue from Contracts with Customers, will replace the revenue recognition guidance under current U.S. GAAAP with a principle-based approach for determining revenue recognition. The new standard has the potential to affect the way business is executed through contracts with customers. It takes effect as early as December 15, 2017 for public entities (non-public entities December 15, 2018).
