As families across Oregon head back to school, we wanted to highlight some successes for Public Education this year. Oregon Democrats recently reaffirmed our commitment to supporting public education at our Platform Convention, and we will be pursuing progressive policy initiatives that will continue to improve and strengthen education in Oregon. Earlier this year, Democratic legislators and our Governor made the largest investment in K-12 schools in state history and:

• Expanded coverage of school meal costs
• Passed the Early Literacy Success Initiative to invest in culturally-responsive reading instruction
• Addressed Oregon's education workforce shortage
• Passed civil rights protections so all students with disabilities are guaranteed access to full-time school days

Oregon Democrats enthusiastically support doing what it takes to strengthen our public education system. We look forward to working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot to make sure our state continues to move forward for all students, educators, and their families.

We also look forward to launching our massive volunteer effort soon - the Neighborhood Leader Program - which is proven to increase voter turnout to make sure our Democratic ticket wins, so that our students can too.
