Organic Fence for Vertical Gardening

By wordswork

I recently was gifted this Castanospermum australe "Lucky Bean Plant". The cheapest saucers from Home Depot were 80 cents (very thin plastic) to $2.68 (still somewhat thin plastic) so I held off on purchasing a saucer.

Free Planters

By VeronicaHB

A pink watering can being used as a planter.Buying planters and containers to display summer flowers in can be expensive. I'm always looking for items around the house that can be repurposed as planters. I've repurposed tin cans, old shoes, boxes and numerous other items as planters. This year, I decided to use a watering pitcher that had a crack in the bottom.

Garden Snail Friend

By lalala...

Garden Snail Friend - snail with dark band spiraling around shellWhen I was outside weeding recently, my son found this neat snail hiding in the plants. I love the swirly pattern on its shell! Living in the PNW I tend to see more slugs than snails, so this was a fun surprise.

Free Nesting Material for Birds
Provide nesting material for songbirds - for free! Make a basket out of wire. I recommend a smaller mesh than chicken wire - half-inch "hardware cloth" works well. Include a mesh lid to keep the contents from blowing away. What are the contents?

Craftsman Riding Mower Battery Not Holding a Charge
My Craftsman mower battery is dead after 2 uses. Is this normal? I had to push mow my yard today with a dead $1900 machine in my garage. I have seen other posts that indicate this is an ongoing problem.

Planting a Vegetable Garden in an Old Dog Pen
We lost our dog a year ago and have taken down her dog pen and worked up the soil to plant a vegetable garden. Now that I have it planted I was made aware of round worms eggs that could possibly still be in the soil. Am I OK or should I not continue in this spot? It's been a year since any dog poo and there is none visible.
Transplanting an Orange Star Plant
I received an orange star plant for Mother's Day May 12th. Can I transplant it in a bigger pot right now?
