Good evening,

Good evening,

Remember the kerfuffle AGL Energy caused when it had a flirt with Vocus Group?

Well, now its rival Origin Energy is going there.

Three years on, and with a small broadband business already under its belt, Origin is taking a look at Vocus’ retail business which includes brands like Dodo, Primus and Commander.

Origin’s understood to have been invited into an auction run by UBS, on behalf of Vocus’ owners. It’s taking an early look, trying to work out whether it wants to use Vocus to build the country’s (distant) fourth-biggest internet service provider behind Telstra, TPG and Optus.

Elsewhere, we have Lazard’s pitch for Goldwind Australia’s two up-for-sale renewable energy assets, and have found Next Capital thinking about one of last year’s pulled IPO candidates.

Happy reading,

Anthony Macdonald, Sarah Thompson and Kanika Sood
