The team set out with a plan today - aiming to get in the breakaway with Oscar Onley and have Lorenzo Milesi set up Max Poole for an attack on the final mountain. Riding almost to perfection, Onley made the break and powered to the win with a perfectly measured effort over the day's challenging mountains.
A fast start saw a breakaway go clear which Onley was part of, while in the bunch Milesi looked after Poole for what was to come. With the break gaining a big enough advantage to fight for the win, Onley played it smart throughout the day, well coached by the car behind. Biding his time before putting in a stinging attack, Onley was able to eventually drop the rest of his breakaway companions and climb to a superb win in Cervinia. A brilliant day for the team was rounded out with Milesi setting up Poole who shredded the peloton, where only a few riders could follow his attack, as he rode his way to an eighth place on the stage which as a result saw him move up on GC for the team too.
