Oct. 18, 2021 Minnesota will soon begin offering $200 cash incentives to those between the ages of 12 and 17 who get the COVID-19 vaccine. Gov. Tim Walz says that incentives in the past have worked well to get Minnesotans vaccinated. "We think we saw big uptake. We saw it during those $100 gift certificates and things like that. We saw over 3,000 people do it at the state fair. They may or may not have done it. We think it matters," he said. "We think some of these incentive programs at least generate buzz around it, and that gets people talking about it and getting it done." The state will also enter 12- to 17-year-old students’ names in a drawing to receive a $100,000 scholarship to a Minnesota college or university if they get the vaccine in the next five weeks.
