Ouch! Another loss and more injuries

Good morning, folks. Welcome to the Tuesday, Oct. 22 edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. We've got a lot to discuss about a team in free fall — including just how injured the Saints are this season. Let's get into it.

Tracking injuries

I set out to do an article that covered every injury the Saints have had this season — and it ended up being 1,500 words. Please check out this comprehensive list that includes each player who has missed at least one game because of injury, left a contest hurt, popped up on the injury report or landed on a list like injured reserve or physically unable to perform.

Are you curious about how many starters have been hurt since the beginning of the season? How many players have missed at least one game? Who is dealing with what? It's all in there. Click away.

Reinforcements on the way?

The Saints have been injured, but there is some good news: New Orleans could soon be getting several pieces back. That list includes Cesar Ruiz, Taysom Hill and more.

What about Derek Carr? Coach Dennis Allen provided an update on the quarterback, too.

Off the rails

When a team loses five straight as the Saints have, things can get pretty wacky. That's been the case of late.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara publicly denied he requested a trade after a social media post falsely said that was the case. And another false social media post went viral for claiming the Saints were hosting open tryouts.

The Saints have plenty of real things to worry about — including about how they'll respond to this losing streak. The task doesn't any easier this week when they have to go out west to play the Los Angeles Chargers.

Anyway, that's all for now. Thanks for reading as always.

Take care,

Matthew Paras
