A Message From BetterCloud Founder and CEO, David Politis

When I founded BetterCloud in November of 2011, I had already decided that BetterCloud would not be your average software company. I had spent my entire career helping IT professionals bring new technology (cloud PBX and cloud office) into their organizations, and I was addicted to seeing this kind of technology transform organizations. I did not want BetterCloud to build and sell software that customers needed to simply check a box, but ultimately becomes shelfware. Too much IT technology is shelfware these days.

BetterCloud’s mission is to empower people to run the world’s best workplaces through technology. And to fulfil this mission, I knew we needed to not only build software that customers would use every single day, but also create a community for the technology professionals that truly want to empower their workplaces with the best technology.

It’s been almost six years since we founded BetterCloud. We have been sending this newsletter to many of you for months, or even years. And we’ve never really told you about the company behind all of this.

HISTORY OF THE MONITOR

We started producing multiple tutorial videos every day, curating articles from around the web for the newsletter, and hosting online events (which many of you have attended) under the Cloud IT Live brand.

But even then, this community still did not have a great place to interact with each other. So, in the fall of 2016, we created the first-ever Slack community dedicated to IT professionals - BetterIT. It’s so new that many of you are not yet members (you can join here).

All told, across the BetterCloud Monitor site, our newsletter, and BetterIT, over 500,000 technology professionals interact with the BetterCloud community every month.

And it always has been and always will be completely free.

BETTERCLOUD, THE PRODUCT

BetterCloud is a management and security platform for SaaS applications. Think of it as “IT mission control” for SaaS apps like G Suite, Salesforce, Slack, Dropbox, etc. IT and security professionals in over 3,000 organizations use BetterCloud every day to:

•	identify and remediate threats and risks by surfacing when and where their organization’s data is exposed and then taking the appropriate action (e.g. if someone is forwarding their email to a personal inbox, or sharing a file with a competitor)
•	save money and time by orchestrating complex processes like onboarding and offboarding and automating the dozens of steps necessary in each SaaS app when an employee joins or leaves the organization
•	minimize risk without impacting the business by enforcing a least privilege model across SaaS applications (e.g. delegating specific access to Help Desk team members, office managers, etc.)

Thanks to our community and our customers, we’ve been able to build this platform using feedback from IT professionals every step of the way. You won’t find anything else like it in the market, because I guarantee no other company listens to you like we do. We have built exactly what you need.

Here's a great example of what the platform can do. The BetterCloud workflow shown here fully automates your entire offboarding process in G Suite, including transferring Drive files, removing Calendar events, delegating the Gmail inbox, and much more. You can create similar workflows for onboarding.
