Never wrap a good burger in an everyday bun!
Dennis Weaver
A homemade bun is so much better than a grocery store bun! But don't let the magic stop there!

Get creative! You can make the rustic bun above with Prairie Sunflower Bread. (The rustic bronze glaze is created by mixing an egg yolk with a tablespoon of water and brushing it on before baking.)
hamburger burger bun roll
The sour cream onion rolls to the right make fantastic burgers. Salted water rolls, slightly reminiscent of both bagels and pretzels, make incredible burgers.

Well, how do you make burger buns?

Just like dinner rolls except squish them down with the back of your hand two or three times in the first twenty minutes of the rise. Let them continue rising until they are puffy.

Bake them for 20 to 25 minutes. A one-loaf bread mix will make eight to ten large hamburger buns.
