Our New Girls

By lalala...

Our New Girls - flock of young backyard hensLast year was a devastating year for our family. We lost all 6 of our chickens to raccoons over the course of a few months. Two of them were almost 6 years old and another was more like a pet dog than a chicken to us. After a lot of contemplation we decided to try again, after extensive fortification of our coop. These are our 5 new girls, exploring outside for the first time!

Set Up Pup Pool for Summer Heat
Living in Florida, the heat is horrible for my outdoor pets. I bought a cheap kiddy, outdoor pool, and put in the back yard in the sun. When my pup gets hot, he dives in, and plays with his toys in the pool. He stays cool at the same time.

What Caused My Dog to Die Suddenly?
I had a 7 year old German Shepherd who was fit and healthy as told by the vet. I took him in for a check up around 2 weeks ago as he had injections for the kennels as we were going away. Last Sunday he seemed fine, but was panting and went out at midnight and came back in OK. At 6 am he had been sick twice and passed, perhaps in his sleep.
Unneutered Male Cat Started Scratching and Spraying
I am caring for an unneutered male cat for a month while its owner is away. He started off really sweet and cuddly, but then got aggressive, started scratching, and sprayed in the entire room. No way to get in there.
