Now Hiring: Community Engagement Coordinator

We're seeking a passionate neighbour, creative mind, talented organizer, and awesome human being as our new Community Engagement Coordinator. Primary duties include ensuring we deliver an outstanding roster of educational programming; engaging with other organizations, businesses, and individuals via our marketing channels; and supporting the growth of the OTL in our day-to-day operations.

This is a grant-funded position requiring applicants to be under 30 years old. Deadline for applications is October 12th!

Workshops in October

This month we're hosting events that teach how to sharpen and maintain your knives at home; to make knitting needles, practice basic techniques, and create a functional/stylish trivet; and to build your own cedar vermicomposting box to handle all of your organic waste!

Knife Sharpening (Oct 7)

$32 (members) or $40 (non-members)

Like most things, knife sharpening just takes some guidance, time, and practice. In our two-hour class, you will learn to hand sharpen your knives on whetstones provided. You just need to bring 2-3 kitchen knives for practice.

Build a Worm Studio & Learn All About Vermicomposting (Oct 23)

$184 (members) or $230 (non-members)

During this workshop, you will learn the basics of vermicomposting and will build your own Worm Studio using cedar wood. Composting with worms is easy, free of smells and pests, and we'll show you how it works.

Make Your Own Knitting Needles & Learn How To Knit (Oct 12 & 19)

$88 (members) & $99 (non-members)

Learn how to make your own wooden knitting needles with basic woodworking techniques. With your new knitting needles, you'll also learn the basics of knitting, and end making a functional and stylish trivet/pot holder.

WorkSpace hours are:
Wednesday 5-9pm
Saturday 10am-2pm

In order to use our WorkSpace, you must have completed the WorkSpace Safety 101 Workshop. Next workshop is Monday, October 18 (6-9pm).

Certain WorkSpace tools require our WorkSpace Safety 201 Workshop (the router, jointer, planer, and table saw). Our first Workspace Safety 201 Workshop is Friday, October 15 (6-9pm).

Each Safety workshop participant currently gets a free day pass to use our WorkSpace!
