We Don't Communicate Often Enough Dear John, All business is personal. No matter how often people say they don't take their business to heart, it is impossible to separate your feelings about someone in your personal life from your feelings about someone in business. That's why this story has stuck with me: About a year ago I finished a presentation to a local group I was hosting in Miami and one of the participants raised his hand. I acknowledge him and he stood and immediately began giving a testimonial for a business coach with whom he had been working. He went on to say how this person helped him with many aspects of his growth and leadership development. I was astonished. This person, a person to who I had referred business often, was standing up in front of my audience and promoting one of my COMPETITORS. When I confronted this individual about his disgusting lack of loyalty and disrespect, he was shocked because he didn't know I provided consulting in those areas. Now, this person may be clueless but I have no choice but to view that as a failure on my part. I should have been communicating my value to that group on a regular basis. How many people don't know what I do and never say anything? Fast forward to January 2019: With this incident fresh in my mind, I decided to make some changes. These days I host a daily video show on YouTube. You can find that here: https://DaveLorenzo.Link/YouTube I also host a daily Podcast and you can find that here: https://davelorenzo.link/iTunes But I make my living consulting with business leaders on revenue growth. Sometimes that means coaching an attorney on how she can attract more wealthy clients. Sometimes that means developing a compensation plan for the salesforce of an international software giant. Sometimes that means developing a sales academy for a large regional CPA firm. Here's the bottom line: I'd rather piss you off with too much valuable content and have you opt-out of the stuff you don't want, than ever take another chance that someone doesn't know what I do. If you want to make more money and you're ready invest in building systems and strategy, call me 888.444.5150 You need to learn from my painful experience. Be certain you communicate with your prospective clients, evangelists, and the people in your community. Make sure they know what you do. Remind them often. Deliver value and never apologize for promoting your services. Here is some additional value for you: The video I released last night was about words we all use too often that probably blow your sales deals. You can find that video here: Words That Kill Deals This morning's podcast was about promoting yourself without bragging. You can listen here: How to Promote Yourself Without Bragging I'm glad we are connected via email and you can look forward to more frequent communication from me in the future. Of course, if this is not your preferred method of communication, you can always unsubscribe. I hope you don't because I value the relationship we have. Enjoy your week. Regards, Dave Lorenzo |
