Over 40 injured after Delta jet dumps fuel on L.A. schools during midair emergency

More than 40 people, including at least 17 children, were injured Tuesday when a Delta flight dumped fuel on three L.A. schools during an emergency shortly after departing LAX for Shanghai, China.

Students and staff were being treated for skin irritation and breathing problems after being exposed to the fuel, according to the school district. Delta said the plane landed safely after the engine issue prompted the emergency.
