June 19, 2017 | In Full Swing Liz French, Senior Editor, LJ Reviews Convention season is revving up! LJ is here, there, and everywhere, keeping track of what’s happening. Selections from our coverage of BookExpo, held in New York June 1–2, include the ninth annual librarian “Shout ‘n Share” event, a panel that delved into free speech issues, and a report on books that buzzed on the show floor. And now that BookExpo is in our rearview mirror, we look forward to the American Library Association conference, with advance signup for our ALA galley & signing guide for the gathering later this month in Chicago. Other non-con offerings include a collection development feature on #Ownvoices, an assortment of interviews, including one with June LibraryReads author Nina George and another with debut author Bianca Marais, and a state of the union report on graphic novels and comics. Keep cool out there!. |
