One of the fastest-growing sports in the country, stand-up paddleboarding has seen a surge in popularity in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. As lockdown restrictions ease across the country, more and more people have been taking to Britain's rivers, lakes and coastlines to enjoy the meditative delights of gliding on an SUP.
"It’s just an incredible activity for both physical and mental health," says paddleboarder Lizzie Carr, whose book Paddling Britain: 50 best places to explore by SUP, canoe or kayak, has been one of our best-selling titles in the last few months. "It’s low impact – you don’t have to be super-fit – and it’s accessible."
