NATIONAL: Bruce MacMillan has been announced as the Professional Convention Management Agency’s new chief operating officer. Bruce previously served as PCMA’s chief marketing officer and brings over 30 years of experience to his new position.

ATLANTA: Austin-based Firmspace is opening an Atlanta coworking space on Sept. 8 in Buckhead’s Sovereign Building. The 27,000-square-foot office alternative will have privacy glass, sound-masking speakers, fiber Internet, on-site parking, and more. Member fees will be waived for any professionals who sign a 12-month contract before Sept. 15.

Sandy Springs C&S Seafood and Oyster Bar is opening a second location on Sept. 14 on the ground level of Modera complex with an enclosed patio that will be usable year-round. The bar will feature signature cocktails and 4,800 square feet of space.

CINCINNATI, OHIO: Fern, a leading marketing support and trade show service provider, has teamed up with ShareMy.Health to launch Fern Health Check in the wake of COVID-19. The digital platform is available to trade show and event organizers to allow consumer-controlled sharing of health data. With a self-assessment portal, customizable policies based on organization, at-home kits for pre- and post-event testing, and more, Fern Health Check aims to promote individual safety and increase comfort levels for attending live events.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Event planning company Bright Occasions will be holding Beyond the Blackout event on Sept. 15 with a goal to increase connection and access among D.C. event professionals. The event will be hybrid with a maximum of 50 in-person attendees at the Anderson House and a simultaneous virtual experience.
