Paladin Energy has launched a $1.25bn takeover of Canada’s Fission Uranium , in a friendly all-scrip deal which opens up a Canadian development as its second production hub and could propel it into the second largest uranium producer listed on a Western market.

The Australian Taxation Office directly raised concerns with PwC Australia that both it and the Foreign Investment Review Board had been misled after discovering internal emails allegedly showing the firm’s staff coaching clients on taxation changes.

There is nearly a one in five chance of a rate hike at the Reserve Bank’s next meeting in August, according to financial markets, ahead of the start of tax cuts and a fresh round of energy bill relief from next week that economists worry will make our inflation challenge worse.
