Panelists say apprenticeships strengthen workforce

South Carolina is the national leader in registered apprenticeship programs, with more than 1,000 registered programs in the state, according to Amy Firestone, vice president of apprenticeship for the S.C. Technical College System. Thirty percent of the registered apprenticeship programs in the state are in manufacturing.

The Santee Cooperboard of directors has approved the sale of $163 million in variable rate revenue obligation bonds that will be used to refund debt.

Greenville-based Crown Properties LLC has purchased Pelham Place in Greer for $6.5 million. The 51,158-square-foot shopping center is home to tenants that include Tropical Grille, Poinsett Medical, Nail Style, Papa Johns and Eye Level Learning Center.
