My aunt needed a dog walker, and I needed the money. I was thirteen.

When Aunt Lee opened the door, I was hit by an explosion of love. A wild streak of gold dived into me, knocking me to the floor. We rolled and rolled in a delightful frenzy. I laughed until the tears covered my face, and that crazy dog licked them all off.

Two older kids were also there applying for the dog-walker position. They sat on the couch, looking so professional and confident. I took my place beside them.
