BoldBrush Recommends: Pat ChealGet Notified When Pat Posts New Art BiographyI’ve been a commercial artist most of my life. I started my career using pencil, markers, ink, gouache and airbrush. In what seemed like overnight, my work became almost totally digital. I've been working since 2007 as an illustrator for a consulting company in Ohio, spending my days creating illustrations in Photoshop. The past few years I've felt a growing restlessness with myself as an artist. I wanted to create work that wasn't made while sitting in front of a computer. That's when I took up oil painting - which struck me as the furthest from digital that I could possibly get. It's been a revelation in many important ways for me and I've never felt more like a true artist, as funny as that probably sounds. My paintings are not about capturing every little detail, every nuance as though my eyes and hand were a camera. I'm so much more about capturing the feeling and the light of what I see. I'm still evolving as a painter - with every piece - and each one I finish teaches me something new. I am so fortunate to be represented by galleries across the country now and in the past, and to have had many wonderful exhibition opportunities. I am also thrilled to be included in a couple permanent public art collections in Michigan. In addition, I've participated in juried competitions state-wide with both plein air and studio work, and have sold many paintings via my website and social media to collectors across the country. Each painting I finish makes me that much more eager to start my next! I can't wait to see what 2024 holds for my art! Thanks for looking. :-) FASO Loves Tammy Callens’ oil paintings!
