| | National Health Act amendment to affect pharmacists | Pharmacists are prohibited from working in non-approved premises | The Minister for Health and Aged Care, Mark Butler, has made changes to the conditions of approved pharmacists effective from 01 June 2023. The changes will prohibit an approved pharmacist from being involved in the supply of PBS medicines at premises that are not approved and prevent any form of remote dispensing or a depot-style arrangement with a non-approved pharmacy, Butler stated. The National Health Act 1953 provides payments to pharmacists for the supply of PBS medicines made at or from premises for which a pharmacist is approved. All approved pharmacists are subject to conditions that are required to be adhered to when supplying PBS medicines, the Minister explained. The amendments seek to assist approved pharmacists in understanding their requirements when supplying pharmaceutical benefits, Butler concluded. More details in today's issue of Pharmacy Daily.
