Round-the-clock operations now permitted to provide access to essential goods.Â

NSW Planning Minister, Rob Stokes, has just confirmed changes to the state'sÂ Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 which enabled him to override normal planning controls restricting hours of operation.

Effective immediately the state's pharmacies and supermarkets will be able to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with Stokes saying the move means the community will have access to food, medical supplies and essential household goods whenever needed.

The changes are on top of other measures introduced last week to allow for deliveries to NSW pharmacies and supermarkets at any time of the day or night.

The new arrangements will be in place until the COVID-19 crisis is over, Stokes said.
