Government gives ahead for 3,500 pharmacy vaccination sites.
All 3,500 community pharmacies that received approval to administer COVID-19 vaccination (COVAX) will be eligible to start vaccinating by next weekend, under an accelerated program announced by the Federal Government today.Â
Pharmacy Guild National President, Trent Twomey, welcomed the decision and urged approved pharmacies not currently administering the vaccines to prepare themselves to join the campaign over the weekend.
âThey must do their paperwork over the weekend, and must have their orders submitted by close of business on Monday,â he said.Â
â[Then] they will all be vaccinating by next weekend.â
Twomey added that utilising the community pharmacy network would deliver improved health and economic outcomes for the country.Â
âWith pharmacists now fully engaged, we have real hope for faster availability of vaccinations,â he said.
âI encourage Australians to make contact with their community pharmacy and arrange their vaccination.
âThe good health of Australians is paramount, which is why your trusted community pharmacist can be relied on to keep you, your family and others around you safe.â
