Featured Speaker: Malka Older
Science fiction writer and author of Infomocracy, Malka Older asks us to use the narrative in her book as a way to conceptualize and consider the potential futures for democracy. Talking about the two main themes of her book, microdemocracy and narrative disorder, Malka will lead us in conversation about the change technology is driving in our political and social systems, and the necessity to see democracy as not the be-all and end-all of governance, but a system that needs to adapt and evolve according to the landscape in which it rests. The accompanying workshop will further this conversation by bringing together the minds in the room to imagine and propagate alternative futures of democracy. Read more about Malka here. Dispatches from the Online Community Forum For people who have already registered, the conference is already warming up with discussions, articles, questions, introductions, and other resources. If you want to learn more about who is coming to PDF and if you want to brush up on what will be discussed, this is an excellent resource. For instance, this screenshot is from the sci-fi workshop that Malka (above) is part of! Civic Hall Discount Extended The Civic Hall members discount to PDF has been extended to May 31st.
