#1 Pearl TV, Verance, Others Team on Broadcast Watermarking Tests
Pearl TV, Fox Television Stations, NBC Connecticut/WVIT, Univision Communications and Verance are collaborating on an on-air test centered on Verances broadcast watermarking technology. The plan is to evaluate how the watermark is deployed, how its retained from transmitter to receiver, and what information can be gleaned from the testing process.
WHY THIS MATTERS: Verance, whose audio watermarking platform is a part of the emerging ATSC 3.0 TV broadcast transmission standard, noted that watermarking will enable the key ingredients for advanced apps and services such as interactivity, personalization, as well as new emergency alerting capabilities on TVs and other viewing devices.

#3 Netflixs Offline Viewing Comes to Windows 10 PCs and Tablets
Nearly four months after Netflix rolled out its offline viewing feature for iOS and Android, the company has made the feature available for the Microsoft Windows 10 PC app, allowing desktop users to download content so they can watch it without an Internet connection.
WHY THIS MATTERS: Netflix had long resisted the idea of allowing downloads, but introduced the feature in November, in part due to its global expansion and the fact that bandwidth in limited in much of the world. But only some of Netflix's video catalog is available for offline viewing. Available titles include most of Netflix's portfolio of original content, as well as some licensed content such as the AMC series Breaking Bad.
