BY CHRISTIAN CLARK | Staff writer The Pelicans did it. Ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, they got one of the NBA's best scoring guards. CJ McCollum has averaged 20-plus points seven seasons in a row. As Devonte' Graham put it, "He's got everything in his bag." McCollum is one of the game's best shot makers off the dribble. He is an immediate upgrade for a team that is 28th in half-court scoring efficiency, and he'll take pressure off of Brandon Ingram. My guess is coach Willie Green starts Graham, McCollum, Ingram, Herb Jones and Jonas Valanciunas tonight. Once Zion Williamson gets back — whether that's this season or next — I think we could see a McCollum-Jones-Ingram-Zion-Valanciunas starting five. There's a lot of potential offensively. In the meantime, I hope to see you at Smoothie King Center. You can sit in the lower bowl for less than $50, and there are seats in the upper deck going for less than $10. -- Christian |
