| The Pentagon has placed 8,500 troops on "heightened alert" as the U.S. and its allies consider whether to wage a military response to Russia's ongoing threats against Ukraine, a Defense Department spokesman said Monday. The White House said Biden plans to speak by video conference to European leaders in the afternoon about Russia's military buildup on Ukraine's border. |
