PEORIA -- Two people who lived at the same long-term care facility in Peoria County have died after being infected with the virus that causes the COVID-19 illness.

Illinois health officials have a message for the public as COVID-19 cases spike in the state: Stay home as much as possible.

PEORIA -- Peoria police have arrested a man, already serving time in prison, in connection with a 2018 homicide, the department said Wednesday.

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Wednesday that 145 people in the state had died of COVID-19 over the previous 24 hours, the highest single-day death toll since the peak of the first wave of the pandemic in May, while overall hospital usage in the state reached its highest level.

MACKINAW -- Starting Thursday, all Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School students will undertake remote learning for most of the rest of November.
