Good evening

The Government has put some meat on the bones of its plans to roll-out the coronavirus vaccine.

And while we welcome all information on just when and how we all might receive our jabs, let’s not pretend that no stone has been left unturned in the hunt for vaccine sites throughout the land.

Just how many 80-year-olds do you imagine might be able to get themselves to a vaccination centre 45 minutes away - or even 10 miles away? Many will no longer be able to drive, they may be unwilling to risk going on public transport and some will have no-one able to ferry them there and back.

So while Mr Hancock’s announcement offers some hope for those in rural and semi-rural areas, there is still more to be done.

We know our pharmacies are already set up to do this - they already administer ‘flu jabs. It would make sense to use them for this latest roll-out too.

Everyone should have a vaccine available within 10 minutes of their home - and that’s what we will keep demanding on your behalf until it happens.
