Monsanto Roundup $7M Settlement
New York, NY Bayer and its Monsanto unit agreed in June to pay almost $7 million to settle Roundup lawsuit claims which began in a 2020 investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The agreement requires Bayer and Monsanto to stop advertising its Roundup weedkiller—which contains carcinogenic glyphosate—as environmentally safe.

Pfizer 401k Plan Hit with ERISA Lawsuit
Kalamazoo, MI On June 8, Matthew Miller, a participant in the Pfizer Savings Plan, brought a class action ERISA lawsuit against fiduciaries of the plan. The lawsuit alleges that the fiduciaries breached their duties under ERISA by permitting the $22 billion plan to pay Fidelity, the plan’s recordkeeper, excessive administrative and recordkeeping fees. The key to understanding Matthew A. Miller v. Pfizer, inc., like many other lawsuits that make similar claims, is that “mega plans” can often negotiate lower prices for relatively standard services. The 55,000 participants seek damages from 2017 to the date of judgment.

Pepsi and Former Factory Worker Settle Overtime Lawsuit
Atlanta, GA A former Gatorade factory worker has reached an agreement with PepsiCo and its subsidiary SVC Manufacturing to settle an overtime lawsuit. Tony Bradley alleged that the company illegally tampered with his time records to avoid paying him time-and-a-half overtime premium pay. He claims that PepsiCo ignored numerous complaints he made to supervisors, HR staff and other management staff about failure to pay overtime work.

SpaceX Slammed with another California Labor Class Action Lawsuit
Los Angeles, CA A former SpaceX worker has filed a California wage and hour class action, accusing the spacecraft engineering company--led by Elon Musk--of yet again violating California labor laws, including failing to pay hourly workers proper minimum, straight time and overtime wages. As well, the company is accused of denying employees proper rest and meal breaks--similar accusations it settled a few years ago.
