He’s the man behind Platoon, based on his experience as a Vietnam veteran, along with movies like Wall Street, JFK and W.
This week he told Late Night Live listeners about his autobiography, Chasing The Light – a reference to what filmmakers have to do at the end of the day when the afternoon light is disappearing and they’re running out of time.
“You have to think: what do I really need? Not what I want; what do I need?” he says.
“A few times I barely finished, and I often got some of my best work at the last end of day.”
