USDA invests $3 million in S.C. telemedicine and education

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing $3 million in grant funding to help connect rural residents to telemedicine care and distance learning opportunities across the Palmetto State.

S.C. to receive $31.5M grant for charter schools

South Carolina will receive a grant of more than $31.5 million from the U.S. Department of Education’s Charter School Programs. The funding will expand existing public charter schools and open 32 new ones across the state during the next five years.

Ford donates vehicles to SCC auto technician program

Ford Motor Co. donated two vehicles to Spartanburg Community College for students in the college’s Ford Automotive Student Service Educational Training program. The F-150 pickup and Fusion are part of the college’s Ford ASSET fleet, which is used by students to learn while working as they pursue careers at automotive technicians.

Upstate Weekend

A glance at some of what’s happening in the Upstate:

  • Justus Orchards will be selling cider, apples and doughnuts at the Greer Farmers Market Fall Festival and will be joined by live music acts and kids' activites.
  • The Mauldin Cultural Center will be hosting a throwback concert series, "Let the Good Times Roll," featuring music from the '50s, '60s and 70s this weekend and the next.
  • Greenville jazz musicians will walk the streets of Travelers Rest this Friday during Tunes in Town.
