ENERGY MASTER PLAN
On May 23, 2018, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 28 directing the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and other state agencies to develop the 2019 Energy Master Plan (EMP) that achieves the goal of 100 percent clean energy by 2050. The new EMP is to be completed by June 2019. The EMP Committee will host a series of public stakeholder meetings in September in order to begin the public process that forges the path toward the total conversion of New Jersey's energy production profile to 100 percent clean energy sources by 2050.
The EMP Committee has identified five work groups to provide analysis and recommendations to support the development of the EMP. Stakeholder meetings are scheduled for September and there will be another comment period after a draft EMP is released in the Spring. Learn more. |
TROUBLE PAYING YOUR ENERGY BILLS?
Energy costs are a big part of the family budget, and if you're on a limited income, they can sometimes be a burden. If you could use some help paying your utility bills, be sure to attend one of the upcoming Energy Assistance Day events near you.
Representatives of the state's natural gas and electric utilities, as well as Community Action Partnership agencies, will be on hand to: - Determine which grants and resources best meet your needs
- Assist with the application process
- Answer questions about your bill
- In addition, income-eligible households may qualify for free energy improvements to help reduce utility bills through the Comfort Partners Program

LABOR DAY AND BACK TO SCHOOL SALES
Labor Day and Back to School sales are right around the corner! If you purchase a new ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer or dryer to keep those school clothes looking their best, we've got rebates to help you get an even better deal. Select ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers are eligible for a rebate up to $75. They use about 25% less energy and 33% less water than regular washers. A larger tub capacity means you wash fewer loads to clean the same amount of laundry, and will help you reduce both your energy and your water costs. Clothes dryers are eligible for a $100 rebate or $300 for the highest efficiency models. Pair it with an ENERGY STAR clothes washer which helps get significantly more water out of your clothes in its final spin cycle than a conventional model. This makes it easier for clothing to dry using less heat. Less heat means energy savings and reduced wear and tear on your clothes caused by over-drying. |
