During the recent Senate hearing, Kroger and Albertsons were both grilled over merger details, but Kroger also caught flak over its ESG (environmental, social and governance) goals — senators specifically cited an employee discrimination lawsuit the company recently settled regarding two workers fired for refusing to wear aprons with a rainbow logo they believed supported the LGBTQ community.
