OpenAI is this week rolling out its Advanced Voice feature — and five new voices for the conversational AI — to subscribers of the Plus and Teams tiers, Digital Trends reported. Enterprise and Edu subscribers will gain access from next week. Advanced Voice runs on the GPT-4o model and allows users to speak directly with the chatbot as they would another person. An OpenAI worker said he uses Advanced Voice as “a friend that’s sitting beside me, that can give me information ... you can prompt it in a way to become a different character ... have it become an interviewer to practice interviewing ... there’s a lot of fun things you can do” ... |

Popular tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee has just released a new wallpaper app called Panels for iOS and Android that features work by real artists (not AI), but it’s getting demolished on social media, Digital Trends reported. Quinn Nelson, better known as tech YouTuber SnazzyLabs, was quick to point out that the new app requests a bunch of permissions that it doesn't need, including things like location, usage data, identifiers, contact information, and search history. Many on social media also criticized the $50-per-year subscription fee for premium access, with one commenter quipping that MKBHD "graduated from the Apple School of Pricing.” MKBHD has already taken to social media to respond to the criticism and is promising to make some changes ... |

Spotify’s new AI Playlist feature that debuted for users in Australia and the U.K. in April is now available in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand, Digital Trends reported. The AI-powered feature lets users choose from a range of premade suggested playlist ideas or use a text prompt to generate a personalized selection of 30 songs. To use the feature, navigate to the Your Library section of the Spotify app in iOS or Android, and tap the “+” symbol in the top corner to reveal a new “AI Playlist” option where you can enter a prompt like “upbeat pop music for my European summer vacation” or “a romantic playlist for date night at home” ... |

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners now has its first trailer (above), featuring star Michael B. Jordan fighting a mysterious evil. Jordan appears in dual roles (twin brothers) in the horror thriller from Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Creed), and while character and details still remain mostly under wraps, a synopsis from Warner Bros. says: "Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back." The trailer shows one of Jordan's characters preparing a weapon to use on the sinister creatures in a script that’s been described as a genre effort involving vampires ... |
