Please Support the Florida League On Seasonâs Greetings from the Florida League, I sincerely hope that your family is healthy and well. Today is #GivingTuesday and with an ongoing Coronavirus pandemic there has never been a more important day for non-profits since Giving Tuesday was founded in 2012. Today we ask for your support, but first Iâd like to explain how the pandemic has affected us and tell you exactly how your donations help our mission. This fiscal year, we lost nearly 50% of our annual revenue compared to a normal year. This was largely due to the loss of our celebrity golf tournament, high school spring break tournaments and lost revenue from a lack of sponsors and ability to have fans in attendance at games. In order to host our 17th summer season, we re-structured our 2020 budget entirely in April and cut every expense possible. In some ways not having a season would have been easier, but understanding the importance of a season for our players, we were committed to playing even if many things were different. With creativity, an ability to adapt, several generous donations, and assistance from economic injury programs the government offered, we have emerged stable after a memorable 2020 season. I am especially proud that despite the unique financial challenges this year presented, we were able to provide full or partial scholarships for over 90 players who otherwise would not have been able to afford playing this summer. Now, we turn our focus to an uncertain 2021 fiscal year that will still see significant impact from this pandemic. Our annual Celebrity Golf Tournament that normally takes place in November is scheduled for late January though we canât expect the same success as in years past. Our high school spring break tournaments will take place in March, but are subject to schools allowing teams to travel and participate. Local businesses are still struggling and we canât expect typical levels of sponsorship support. There is also uncertainty with a major source of grant funding we receive annually. Despite this, we will find a way to play our 2021 season as we did in 2020. With your support, we will continue to provide an opportunity for college baseball players to develop and provide scholarships for nearly one-third of them. We will continue to provide family friendly and affordable games and benefit our local communities by partnering with businesses. If you are able, would you consider making a donation of any size today? We have convenient options through Paypal and via Facebook Fundraisers which do not charge us any processing fees. This year has been a challenge for so many, I am cognizant of the fact that many families are struggling during this difficult time and canât donate on this Giving Tuesday. If you are not able to donate this year, would you consider sharing this fundraiser through social media? This can be just as valuable. I want to wish you and your family good health and happiness this holiday season. Whether you choose to support the Florida League, or another organization this Giving Tuesday, thank you for your support of non-profits on this important day. Sincerely, Stefano Foggi President Florida League The Florida League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Tax ID 20-0921688. Share: |
