Apogee Rocketry Workshop #395:

Building the TTV Rocket - Part 10

Advanced Construction Video

In this step in the build sequence of the "Timer Test Vehicle" (TTV) model rocket kit, the glue on the fins is dry so we can remove the rocket from the fin alignment jig. Then we'll attach the launch lug and stand-off to the front end of the tube and glue it into place. Be sure to check the alignment of the launch lug to make sure it is straight so that the two lugs on the two stages are concentric and parallel. You'll then see how to apply glue fillets to the fins. While that glue is drying, we'll put the protective bulkhead disk into the transition using thin super glue.

A series on painting a rocket can be found here, since it is not covered in this series on the TTV.

The TTV rocket was created as a way for us to inexpensively test the Simple Timer. This electronic staging device is perfect for those that wish to stage composite propellant rocket motors. The TTV is a small-ish rocket that allows you to try out your timers and dual-deployment altimeters without using high-power motors. They can be tested on C and D size motors that are readily available.

Launch of the Week

Launch of the Week: "Strap-on Booster Flight"

Site-1 of the Jackson Model Club is where we're simulating this flight of a rocket with the new 33mm Diameter Strap-on Booster Pods. The boosters were set to drop off the core vehicle at different times, so you can see them more clearly. What is hard to see, though is the power lines running through the field. Did we miss them? Check it out and see.

Customer Testimonials:Customer Comments

"Apogee components is by far my favorite rocket company. They have great kits for all skill levels. Their tubes and other components not only fit with their own components, but they fit with components from other companies too. Apogee always ships their products out in good time, and the products are always cushioned well so they are always in good condition. Apogee components is a perfect company for the scratch builder; I have built many scratch builds using their parts. When you ask them a question, you get a speedy reply by a real person! I am very grateful for having apogee components to rely on for their quality products. If you ever want to buy a rocket or part from apogee but are wondering whether it is actually good quality, I can assure you; it is!"

I'm now actively seeking writers for articles to appear in this newsletter. And I want unique and cutting-edge articles because that is what you want to read, right? I realize this, so to get articles from outside writers that have the same level of quality, I'm going to have to pay a lot of cash to make it worth it for them. So I've come up with a compensation package where I'll pay up to $350 for good how-to articles.

Are you a writer, and does that interest you? That is a lot of cash! Far more than you'll get by writing for other magazines. And with over 23,000 worldwide subscribers, if you write for the Peak-of-Flight Newsletter, you'll gain a lot of notoriety. Writing for the Peak-of-Flight Newsletter is a great way to show off your rocketry projects and your technical expertise, at the same time as helping out other rocketeers. Imagine how great you'll feel knowing that you made a difference to the hobby.
