Police turmoil engulfs Baton Rouge leaders

After numerous allegations of excessive force, Baton Rouge Police shut down an interrogation warehouse, disbanded their Street Crimes Unit, and arrested four of their own officers — and more internal investigations, plus an FBI probe, are in the works. 

Now the turmoil is engulfing parish leaders.

After Chief Murphy Paul ferociously criticized some Republican Metro Council members last week, some called for him to resign.

But on Monday, several Democrats on the council held a rally showing support for Paul. And council members received a threatening email, leading police to provide security. 

Here's the latest on the multiple controversies.


A federal judge has sanctioned LSU, saying someone at the university allowed the data to be deleted from two phones used by tennis coaches at the center of a major lawsuit accusing officials of failing to take action about sexual misconduct.
