NARVESON | Staff writer Another 'no': For the second time in four months, the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council voted down a proposal to roll forward 13 millage rates Wednesday night, denying local firefighters and police additional funding. Though leaders from the Baton Rouge Fire Department, five different fire protection districts and the police union president pleaded with the counsel, the vote failed after debate over an agency left off the list. St. George's first election: Most of the people who have been leading St. George, including the interim mayor, police chief and four city council members, filed Wednesday to appear on the March 29 ballot, solidifying their bids to continue shaping the new city. Cabana kibosh: Baton Rouge Metro Council member Cleve Dunn Jr. still has a cabana near his backyard pool, nearly two years after a Baton Rouge judge fined him $57,000 and ordered him to tear it down because it encroached on his neighbor's property. On Tuesday, an attorney for those neighbors asked 19th Judicial District Court Judge Beau Higginbotham to reinstitute his order for Dunn to remove the pool kitchen.
