Minnesota voters streamed to the polls in big numbers Tuesday with lots of anticipation but no widespread problems as Election Day gave way to election night.

Polls in Minnesota are open until 8 p.m. (As long as voters are in line by 8 p.m., they will be able to vote.) So far, there haven’t been any reports of widespread problems. Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon said it’s been a “superb day.”

Secretary of State Steve Simon says voter interest is very high, and may be approaching enough to challenge the state’s turnout record of 83 percent in 1956.
