Partner deal: Pop, classical and jazz meet in Davie Bowie's favorite work

The New World Symphony is pushing the boundaries of classical music in its latest "pay what you wish" concerts.

On Monday, April 29, at 7 p.m., Molly Turner, New World Symphony Conducting Fellow, presents Breath and Pule: Reich's Music for 18 Musicians.

This one-hour performance centers on Steve Reich's 1976 minimalist work that blurs boundaries among pop, classical and world music. A favorite of David Bowie, the piece has a meditative psychoacoustic effect, which will be enhanced by expansive visuals created by Badie Khaleghian and projected on the sails of the Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall.

Tickets for this performance are pay what you wish, with free tickets available for those who need them. Learn more and reserve your seats at nws.edu/breath.

These special performances are part of New World Symphony's BLUE program. Standing for Build, Learn, Understand and Experiment, BLUE is a combination of leadership and entrepreneurship training and firsthand experimentation that provides NWS Fellows and alumni with a comprehensive skill set to complement their musical training. NWS BLUE projects empower some of the world's best young musicians to plan, produce, and perform in concerts and musical projects aligned with their personal interests.
