Popeyes Names Gut Miami Its Creative Agency of Record

One of the most talked-about brands of the past year, Popeyes, officially has a new AOR. The fast food brand, owned by the same parent company as Burger King, today announced it has chosen independent agency Gut as its creative agency of record.

Gut, staffed with many former David staffers who worked on the Burger King account, has been a recurring partner for Popeyes despite agency GSD&M being its primary agency. GSD&M was behind Popeyes' "Y'all good?" tweet aimed at Chick-fil-A, which helped kick off the "Chicken Sandwich Wars" of 2019.

But during that time, Gut also sparked global attention for the brand with projects like the "Open Sunday" campaign promoting the return of the Popeyes chicken sandwich and a line of branded clothing that seemed as much inspired by Beyoncé as by the chain's staff uniform.
